Coachella is this weekend (and next weekend) and is livestreaming on Youtube. There's six channels for all the different stages, so a lot to see.

You can find the livestreams on the Coachella Youtube channel, and there is some schedule information at this link:

No, I have never made it to Coachella but the past couple years I watched some of the livestreams and found some new music I enjoy. I like how there might be a band I know playing on one stage/stream, but on half a dozen others there are bands I'm not familiar with and it turns out a bunch of them are great!

While I missed the Coachella live experience, I did get to enjoy a live music experience today local to me. I saw "Folsom Prison Revisited", a tribute to Johnny Cash with songs and stories interwoven, telling the story before, during, and after the famous Folsom Prison performance. The music was great, the stories touching, it was a great performance.

That sounds pretty awesome. I saw an Elvis impersonator last year (wish
I could remember his name... I went with people who had seen him before).
I was pretty impressed. He told some stories about some of the Elvis
hits he played, and he also played some other songs from the same era, including at least one by Cash.

Plenty of hits and favourites to choose from there! That sounds like a show that would be a lot of fun too.

haha, yesterday we accidentaly turned on the tv and watched the episode of Columbo where Johnny Cash is the killer (S03E07 - Swan Song).

    and i've learned this trivia:

"The black guitar used in this episode is the first ever black Martin D-35 guitar. Johnny Cash had the luthiers of the Martin company make him this one-of-a-kind guitar without the permission or knowledge of Martin's president, C. F. Martin III. Mr. Martin never wanted his company to make a black guitar and was against making one. Martin didn't find out that the guitar had been built until he saw Cash playing the black Martin on this show. The first black Martin became Johnny's favorite guitar, and he used it on many recordings and on concerts for the next 20 years. The Martin company eventually came to accept the black Martin and has made two different tribute guitars to Cash - The Black Martin D-35 and the Black Martin DX"

That's interesting.. Interesting to hear about musical instruments and what musicians played, etc.

Excellent trivia too! Another time when Mr. Cash wasn't about to let an authority figure get in his way. :)

You know I never really appreciated them until seeing this fellow play. I
just assumed it was some sort of cosplay that people did. Seeing someone
that not only tried to look like him but could also sing and play guitar
made me appreciate the role of the impersonator more. ;)

The cover band I saw (Folsom Prison Revisited) performed Hurt and even as a cover the Johnny Cash version is breathtaking.

Another one of Johnny's covers that I love is Rusty Cage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CrBqRb3VGM

I get shivers when the electric guitar comes in mid-song. Best listened to LOUD.
